The Marin Retriever Club Perpetual Challenge Trophy
Donated by John Schulte in Honor of Nick, who is the Epitome of the ideals of this Trophy, The Marin Retriever Club Perpetual Challenge Trophy is to be offered to the MRC member-amateur-owner-handler of the most outstanding Retriever Field dog who accumulates the most points in AKC licensed and/or sanctioned Field Trials and Hunt Tests during the calendar year.
The Marin Retriever Club (MRC) is an organization comprised of all volunteers with members largely interested in working their sporting dogs in the Field. The purpose of this Perpetual Challenge Trophy is to:
a. Recognize and Express Appreciation for the innate skill, drive and human bond required of retrieving dogs – A
Solid and True Team
b. Dedicate the Spirit of this Trophy to all the hardworking amateur-owner-handlers and breeders
c. Provide an Opportunity to those entering the sport and increase participation in the sport
d. Present a Goal for a Master Hunter Team that may not be able to attend a National Event
The following guidelines will be the criteria when awarding future recipients for the Marin Retriever Club Perpetual Challenge Trophy. If two or more dogs have the same number of points all dogs’ names will be engraved on the trophy. The Chair of the Awards Committee and one Board member shall decide on the recipient for the current year based on points computed as follows from the day after the Annual Membership Meeting/Holiday Party through November 15th of each year. The recipient must be a member in good standing with MRC and the AKC for the competition year. The individual member is responsible for keeping track of and submitting their total points to the Awards Committee.
a. 1 Point for each Junior Hunt Test Pass
b. 2 Points for each Senior Hunt Test Pass
c. 3 Points for each Master Hunt Test Pass
d. 6 Points for each Master National Hunt Test or Master Amateur Hunt Test Pass
e. 3 Points for a JAM (Judges Award of Merit) in any division of a Field Trial
f. 4 Points for a Reserve JAM in any division of a Field Trial
g. 5 Points for Fourth Place in any division of a Field Trial
h. 6 Points for Third Place in any division of a Field Trial
i. 7 Points for Second Place in any Division of a Field Trial
j. 8 Points for First Place in any division of a Field Trial
The annual recipient will be presented with the perpetual trophy with the teams’ name and year inscribed on a small plaque affixed to the trophy at the Annual Membership Meeting/Holiday Party. The trophy will be held in possession of the recipient for one year, then relinquished to the Club for the next recipient. It will be the recipient's responsibility to ensure the care and safety of the trophy and to return the trophy to the Club prior to the next Annual Membership Meeting/Holiday Party in a condition to allow its continuing presentations.
